“Good things come to those who wait.” It’s a phrase that has been used in poems, songs, and advertising campaigns by companies like Heinz and Guinness. But it’s true. The best things truly do come to those who wait. Especially when you have someone on your side working behind the scenes to bring about that special moment when all the waiting pays off.

In this case, the “person” behind the scenes is actually a family, the Metzels. In 2020, Adam and Trisha stepped up as the new owners of what used to be Earworm Records. They stood outside what was now their store, took a deep breath of spring air, and decided with a new chapter, the store needed a new name. So they rebranded in 2021. It is now Spiral Groove. A great name for a great store.

Spiral Groove is located in beautiful downtown Milford, OH. Milford’s Main Street, in the warmer months, boasts flower boxes, antique shops, and quiet afternoons spent window shopping. It’s also the go-to place for vinyl records.

So why did I mention the joy of waiting? It comes from a story told by Adam Metzel, who has worked at the store since its “Earworm” days. One day, a few years ago, a customer walked in looking for… wait… I’ll let Adam explain. It’s his story to tell. 

“I had a new customer come in in 2018,” Adam said. “Looking for a Cheech & Chong-Big Bamboo with the rolling paper inside. I took his info because we didn’t have it.”

Flash forward two years later, and Adam is flipping through some recent acquisitions. What does he find? You guessed it. Adam set the record aside and dug out the number he’d written down two years before. “He came straight over and was so excited. He couldn’t believe I still had his info and called.”

That’s the kind of service and support you’ll find at Spiral Groove. When you walk in, you’re part of the family. “We treat our customers like family,” Adam says. “Because that’s what they are.”

A quick walk through the store’s brightly lit and welcoming interior will reveal a treasure trove of finds, from Harry Styles’ Fine Line to Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew. Their online store is extensive, up-to-date, and priced to sell (you can grab a mint copy of Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits if you’re fast).

“We make sure to go the extra mile, ensuring a pleasurable experience,” Adam adds.
